I need a rear brake hose (the one from the caliper to the steel line). Looks like part number 40971-00A war replaced by 40971-00B and is double the price of the old one. Seems that no local dealers have one in stock. This sucker costs $170, WOW!
I looked on Dennis Kirk and JP Cycles with no luck. Does anyone know if I can order the hose and the fittings separately? If so, what size fitting will I need. Also, if you know the length it will save me from measuring it.
Thanks

OK, So I found 2 options, but I really don't want to wait until next week, as this weekend is supposed to be nice. I am going to call a few other dealers in my "area" if I have to drive I will do it,
Anyway, if someone else is searching for the same thing, I figured I would post my findings.
HD40322R Bikers choice is about $70
HD9232-A Goodrich is about $100 (JP Cycles part # 245-337)
Goodrich makes great brake lines. You can't go wrong with them. I have used their products in the past with great results. Looks like you might have found your answer.

BTW, what happened to you existing brake line????
Turns out what I thought was an oil leak was brake fluid. there is a small pinhole in it. I'm surprised my brakes were not feeling spongy. Anyway, my bike is 9 years old (almost 10) with 60K on the clock. I figure things are just starting to wear out.
The replacement is a revised part, and it is actually pretty nice.
They do wear, I have seen a few, I am going to replace mine with the new one, if the need arises.
Go to your local hydraulic hose supply outfit and have them make one for you.
I even had them make it in two pieces so it could be replaced easier.
Cost me $12 total.
Checked with local place that I have had make power steering hoses for me, and they couldn't do it.
I had a dealer do a search for the hose and only 2 exist in the country. WTF!!!
So I a found used on on eBay that is close to me and bought it. It was mailed today, so there is a chance I will se it tomorrow. We shall see.
By the way, the hose must have been rubbing on something for a long time, the rubber sheeth over the hose was rubbed through, then it went into the hose, and finally cut through. I feel very lucky that this wen in the garage, rather than on a mountain road.
