Srvc manual for my 09 96" states normal op temp for oil is 230 deg .

230deg oil temp is what my bike used to run at 58-60mph cruise on a 78-80 deg day and oil temp increased pretty quick when hitting just 1 or 2 stoplights in a row or when hitting slower traffic like at 25-30-35mph for a while.

So with that said keep in mind std dino motor oil quickly degrades in its ability to lube/cool/protect a motor at approx 250 deg or more so not much fluff room (only 20 deg) for guys running std dino when HD says 230 deg is normal op oil temp.

Most quality full syn bike oils can handle considerable more heat going to approx 300 deg before it's effectiveness starts to degrade.

Are you making a distinction betwee head temperature with oil temperature? At the very least, they are measured in different places, so they will not be the same. I could be wrong but head temperature will always be higher than oil temperature.

Well, since your being a pia " You actually didnt say anything about oil or engine temp at all just saying (I have no idea what "normal" is) .

So since you didnt state what NORMAL temp you were talking about weather it be oil or engine temp that why i thought i'd give you what HD stated is NORMAL OIL TEMP which was 230 deg.

And i addressed that in my initial post in this thread here saying right up front (I have oil temp not engine temp) to report on which directly relate to each other ,but by just how much deg for deg oil temp related to engine temp for an air cooled or new water cooled hd motor is i dont know .

But sorry it bothered you so much to have to read & learn something you didnt already know that HD's normal oil temp is 230 deg for an 09 96" twinkie.

At least i am on this site trying to add something of value and arent on here with nothing better to do then busting chops for no good reason like you are.

GEESH!!!!!!/LOL!!!!!

2011 Road King 103ci, Woods TW777 cams, SYN 3, 2 into 1 pipe, SE air cleaner. The bike has not been dyno tuned. Just a canned map.

Thanks

Very similar to what I saw on my FP3, before I stopped looking at the temps

I see you listed " coolant temp " so you must be comparing a " semi water cooled HD " to air cooled HD's which is kinda like comparing fresh apples to rotten apples.

I say that because because the OP of this thread stated he has a 2011 RK thats not water cooled & your newer " semi water cooled HD" should run a bit cooler on avg in hot conditions then the air cooled HD's of same size in same cond in same outside air temp would without any help from things like wards cooling fans and or an ultracool oil cooler with dual elec cooling fans.
