BIKE: 2008 Anniversary FLTR, Stage 4 103 inch SE top end, stock ECM tuned with HD Tuning Module.
PROBLEM: Last week, the speedometer began cutting out and the bike felt like it was running in a limp-home mode or something. Tach still worked as it should. It happened only when the engine was cold and would stop occurring when I'd pull over, turn off the key switch then restart the engine. Its gotten worse over the week, occurring now at speed and with the 6th gear light going out sometimes (when I'm in 6th gear).
Anyone have any ideas? Is this an ECM going bad? I couldn't find any problem like this. Thanks for any and all help... Brewster...
Could be something as simple as a loose ground wire under the battery or even at the battery. I'd check the battery and where the ground connects to the frame first.
It could be speed sensor on tranny , lots of people have had this issue my 07 did it for a short time . I changed tranny fluid and it cleared up . Seems sometimes dirt will hang up on it .
