After check vaulve replacement I can hear my fuel pump running at idle
I don't think the internal hoses are leaking because when I turn on the key (without starting it) it runs and then stops. and it will set about 12 min before it runs again. But when I an riding and I stop and let it idle, I can hear the fuel pump running, Is this normal? I never heard it before I changed the check vaulve. Does anyone else hear their fuel pump running at idle? Will it hurt anything for the fuel pump to be running all the time?
How much fuel is in your tank.Is it full or almost empty?
It doesnt seem to matter. I hear it all the time... I thought the same thing...that I had gotten it up out of the fuel. But it seems to be in the right place. Its only annoying and only if I thought it was gonna cause me problems in the furure
From what I understand... Yes, your pump should be constantly running, however, you should not hear it. But just because you hear it whine doesn't mean it is bad or going bad.
To add a little detail....The fuel pump has a timer in the system relay that triggers the 2 second you hear the fuel pump run when you key on. (this relays is also in the start relay but not used but can be interchanged on the older bikes)
This builds the apx. 60 psi for starting. After starting and running or 10 pings by the crank sensor while cranking , the pump runs all the time. The pressure relief is in the tank. This maintains the pressure of apx 60 at idle or wot.
Cars are the same way. However, they usually have a relief at the engine and a return to the tank. The first FI system on Harleys also had this relief at the throttle body and a return line to the tank.
Lot of people hear or see this fuel cycling relief in the tank and think a line is broke.
A sure sign of a stopped up fuel filter is a lack of idle control since that is the first to go. Sure you could tell it also at wot but not too many want to try that.

Just a thought, but when you had it up and out, could you have moved the pump or sock so that it is now touching the side of the tank and transferring the sound of the pump motor through the tank? Or possible the tie wrap broke and let the pump move to make contact with the tank? Just speculating, of course
Sounds like your fuel system is trying to pressurize intermittently (the sound you hear at startup is the intial pressurization of the fuel system). For the life of me, I don't know how you can hear anything like that with the motor running over the exhaust.
