Is it a wear item? When I bought the Road Glide used from a dealer (24 thou miles) they said they replaced the clutch cable. Wondering if I should replace it as a precaution, I now have 73 thou miles. I lube it every 10 thou when I change the tranny fluid.
if it is smooth and not stretching, I'd leave it.
if concerned buy a replacement so you have it on hand...and swap on your next tranny fluid change.
if you have to swap inbetween changes, roll up your wheels of a 2x4 and put the bike on the jiffy ( make sure it is stable)...you can pull the trap door cover without loosing fluid.
make sure your cable is correct length- lay it out next to the old one.
and follow the routing exactly
( we had one rider install his cable wrong, on a left turn out of a driveway, the cable looped around his turn signal...and held the bars to the left. he crashed)
