Also, you don't want to solder on the wires on your 15. It can mess with the canbus system. If you go high enough that you need wire extensions, you can get plug and play ones from harley for like $30.

How is soldering going to affect the CANBUS? Wires are routinely soldered on any CANBUS system...

Got the Hill Country Customs pre-wired kit, it's great.

They had some quality issues with the housings but that was a few years ago and I used HD on once side to replace it.

When the canbus style 10" extensions part # 69200034 are $31.99 why would you want to mess with or risk damaging the system.

I have soldered my share of wires, but for $32, I think even I would just buy the part and install it.

That still doesn't answer my question. We chose to solder ours because the wires are solid all the way through....no connectors to come apart...granted my bike is an 06, but we have done a few others now...no problems at all.

As for the $32...if I have everything sitting here, why spend the money if I do not have to...I can put that money towards something else on the bike

To be honest, I really don't know. I have been told by many people that soldering on the new control wires is a big no no due to possibly adding resistance and with how sensitive the system is. Maybe they are all wrong, who knows. I didn't want to try on my brand new bike.

Exactly. For $32 bucks its worth the peace of mind.

As far as connectors coming apart with these I really don't see that being an issue in most cases. The stock wiring on these new bikes is long enough to get you to opening in the bars so you are not pulling on the extensions. On mine I simply plugged the extensions in after the wires were pulled.
