It also looks like fueling sells conversion cams as well. Also they have a full list of the parts needed to adapt the cam plate to the roller chain (shims, sprockets, hydraulic tensioners, chain ect). this should make this project a little easier.
I did the S&S 510 Gear Driven Cams, on my 01 RK, and I am 100% satisfied...They are so quiet that you would never know they were gears, if I did not tell you...At 22K miles stock tensioners were shot..
You cannot go wrong with S&S....Any questions PM me...

The problem with fueling plates , and pumps , is they are spec so tight , I have seen .003 runout waste an oil pump. The S&S pump will not do this, because their pump will handle much more runout ....do what you want though.
I'm thinking about piecing my own kit together haha. I definitely want the S&S camplate and oil pump, and possibly the reaper 525 cams since S&S doesn't make a conversion cam. But like you said about the shims and sprockets roller chains and such, on feulings site they have a kit with all the Harley Davidson part numbers for that. So that helps solve that part of the puzzle.

apples and oranges. 01 had the timkin bearing, shorter stroke, and I believe forged cranks and better made cranks. But do agree on S&S
I plan on using as much S&S products as possible in my motor. I am a little disappointed I cannot use their 509 cams but that's ok seeing that the roller chains will add longevity to the motor. I'll either use the Andrews 21n or Reaper 525 conversion cams instead.
Now I have a friend who works at the local dealer and he claims S&S is junk and to go with the SE instead. I know my local indy also leans towards SE but he also deals with the dealer as well.
I do my best to not lower myself to childish name calling, but anyone who is stupid enough to call S&S products junk, doesn't even deserve the respect of a stray dog. S&S is THE industry standard in high quality aftermarket Harley Davidson parts. And to claim otherwise, and flat out lie, shows that guy to be the dip$hit he is.
Nuff said.
I have about 10,000 miles on my S&S gear drive cams as well, and I'm very happy with the results .
The bike pulls harder and the gears are quiet , as was already mentioned.I wouldn't think twice about ordering S&S products again.
In fact , I think a 98 kit may be in my future.

Cam choice is largely dependent on your bikes intended use. If you're like me, you spend 95% or more of your time at less than 4500 rpm. The suggested Andrews 21N come on very early, almost right off idle. They're supposed to be good up to 4800. They pull hard and just keep pulling throughout the rpm range that I ride in. I'm much happier with it than I would be with some high lift long duration cam that makes peak numbers at 6K and above. Unless you're into showing off your dyno sheets, you won't regret using them. Andrews also makes a 26N that comes on a few hundred rpm later, Andrews recommends them for 95" motors, but IMO those are better suited to lighter bikes like a Dyna. The late model cam plate, even a stock HD plate and pump is much better than what you have, and run for a very long time on stock bikes. Worries over their failure are just not warranted IMO. Plus, you can order all your parts ahead of time and have everything ready to go so you can get the swap done in an afternoon. You gotta tear down in order to measure runout for a gear driven set, then order them if it's good enough and wait a week. Or if it's not good enough you'll order the hydraulic camplate anyway. Either way there's more downtime.
The Feuling Reaper 525 cams are supposed to go from 1750-5200 as opposed to the Andrews 21n which as you stated is from about 1700-4800. I do spend some time on the highways so I am thinking that the Reapers may be just what I need. I wish S&S made a conversion cam but I will just have to use their cams on a future build! I am still using the TC3 cam plate and oil pump they came out with.
