I had the Madstad on my 07 RG, some people thought it was ugly. I liked the adjustability and it functioned great.

A lot of factors go into a man's opinion of the best...

Like asking who has the prettiest girlfriend, or the best looking bike.

For the money, though, it is hard to beat a LRS. You can order one TODAY for a under 40 bucks, plus shipping.

For my 2014 Limited, I have 5 windshields:

Stock FLHTK 10" Clear. Stays wrapped up in a box on the shelf, saved for either someone needs it and makes me the right offer, or I trade in.

4" Stock Street Glide windshield, Dark. Used when it's hot out, and only when wearing my SHOEI GT-Air. This shield allows clean air to the helmet vents.

10" LRS Ultra, Dark. Used when it's not hot out, and I am wearing my SHOEI GT-Air and intend to do interstate highway riding.

10" LRS UltraWide, Dark. Used when I am riding 2 up and we are wearing our SHOEI GT-Airs and intend to do interstate highway riding.

8" LRS Ultra Elite, Dark. Used in all other circumstances, usually without a helmet for my every day riding, either solo or 2 up.

I am a fan of LRS, and if I wasn't out of work, I would have bought another this weekend... probably a 7" Ultra Elite, just because the sale is GREAT, and I would like to try shorter, just to see if it works for me.

Whatever you choose, it should be polycarbonate/lexan material. Plexi junk can mess you up in a hurry. I am still riding my 'King with the stock lexan shield that has been whacked a few times with no damage so far. On my Reckless Fairing, I installed a LRS Elite Polycarbonate Recurve that is great. I replaced the plexi windshield that came on it, it had cracks galore along the bottom of the shield that could have contributed to something really bad.
And, I only use Plexus to clean polycarbonates, including my riding glasses.

Another LRS fan...8" recurve.

Had Klock Werks 6.5", but it wasn't quite clearing the buffeting...LRS did.

For me, the most important factor is getting the height that works best for me.
I like to look "over" the top of the windshield, but I still like to have it high enough to provide wind protection for my face and also to prevent the "buffeting" of wind onto my helmet.

I sit a little "high" in the saddle of my '13 CVO Ultra and I currently have a Freedom Shield "re-curve" 11", light smoke model, which I like.

The thought is to have the top of the windshield level with the tip of your nose, but with a re-curve windshield the top of the windshield can be a tad lower and you will still get good wind protection.

.
This.
The fit is really the only thing that matters.
It should fit between your lower lip and nose.
Buy several cheap ones off of ebay or wait until a rally comes in your neck of the woods.

I've had a F4 custom shield on my bike for 3 years now. I've put close to 50,000 + miles on it. It's as clear now as it was when I installed it. They put the same coating on there shields as on eye glasses for scratch resistant. They don't cost anymore than OEM shields. They're Lexan also.

Well I ride a Road King and also Shovelhead FLH bikes all with just the shield. Needless to say I have tried many over the years.

I recently picked up right here on the forums a used Klock Werks that was so reasonably priced I had to get it. Best windshield I have ever sat behind bar none. It is a Billboard Flare or something like that.

I would imagine the ones for Batwings should give similar results BUT it is a matter of personal perspective in the end right ??

I'm on my second Clearview. First on my 03 RG put 50,000 on it and just put one on my 09 RG this one with the vent. Very happy with it.
