I guess the title of this thread says it all. I push the button and I hear a click down where the starter is but nothing happens. Lights don't dim as if the batter has a bad connection. Battery is fully charged. What can it be. I road it home yesterday parked it. Went to start today and all it did was click. After about three or four tries it started right up two times then now just clicks. One click not a run of clicks like a bad connection. 31,000 km on it. The battery terminals are tight and clean.
cannot tell from video, but, earlier post said click was from area of starter. if your connections are good and it still happens , you need a solenoid repair kit .
Mine does the same exact thing on occasion. Not nearly often enough for me to be able to diagnose it... But it has never failed to start and all connections are tight, clean and the battery is new. A relay was used to test but it worked fine. The only thing I can think of is the actual switch on the bar, which has never been modified or otherwise disturbed from the factory.
I thought about the handle switch however there is signal going down to the relay at very least and you can clearly hear it on the vid I posted. I checked the battery connections and the connection on the starter and all is clean and tight. Even pulled the plug off of the neutral light switch What other wire can I look act. After fiddling with all them. It started right up after five or six tries then just a single click again
Is the "click" from the starter relay under the the seat or at the starter? if the relay is good then the solenoid is either not pulling in or does, but the contacts that feed the electric motor are bad and need replacement. replace the relay just for fun. $5 auto lighting relay. Then if start is intermittent get the starter solenoid repair kit. it contains the contacts you need.
