Gang, i need a good recommendation on leather gloves.
I was at the HD shop and really loved the Gauntlet leather glove. It kept my hand warm, without feeling heavy and restricted. The problem is, I live in the Carolina's. At most, we get 3 months of cold weather. I really don't want to spend $90 for a pair of gloves. And, I'm sure once spring arrives, I won't be using those gloves.
I'm looking for an alternative to the HD Gauntlet glove. Seriously, it's a really comfortable glove. I'm looking for something that'll provide good insulation but won't feel heavy.
For winter gloves, I'm using the Frank Thomas Aqua gloves. Its like my hands are inside of 2 cinder blocks.
I love my Fox River gloves...when it gets cold I wear glove liners. I'm in IA...I bet in the fall and spring when I wear the liners is about the same as your winters in the Carolinas...
They don't feel in any way restricting and where not expensive.
Today, while riding, I had to pull over. Throw the heavy gloves in the bag and pulled out my Summer, fingerless gloves. Heck yeah it was cold but I felt more at ease and comfortable, than with those heavy gloves.
I have several pairs for gloves to accommodate the varying temps & types of weather. I carry my cold & water proof gloves in my saddle bags all the time. So you'll save $90 & have cold hands? I say no to cold hands. LOL.

I don't like bulky gloves either . Have you considered heated grips?
Thin and insulated doesn't usually go along with inexpensive. The high end thermal stuff is thin but not cheap (generally) and the cheaper insulated gloves are thick to make up for the lack of good insulation. With all that being said try wearing rubber exam gloves as a liner under your normal gloves. They trap heat well and would be wind proof. That is about as cheap as you can get for some extra warmth.
