Default Oil Temp Sensor Installation?

Im looking for an alternate location to install my Dakota Digital Oil Temp Sensor. The location on the oil pan is used for the new S&S 124 engine that was installed. Wanted to see if I could install this at the Oil Filter location. I attached two pics of the location Im looking at. Can I use either of the two screws that are on the Oil Cooler connections at the Oil filter? Any other thoughts for install? Thanks...Rich

perhaps someone can correct me here but according to my OC diagram one of those is for the OC thermostat.

When I did my engine on my car I used a "T" fitting to get the oil pressure and temp feeds into the same hole... worked just fine for me..

I don't know if the sensor tip would have enough emersion to give accurate readings. The sensor lead would need to be in an area where it was at a lower level where it was more submerged in the oil than having it flow around it. I may be off in my thinking though. Dakota is very helpful and always answered questions well when I had my speedo from them. S&S would be my first call to get a opinion then go to Dakota if they are u helpful. What is being used in the pan to not allow you to use that pretapped location?

With the S&S 124 crate engine installed, the engine uses that location for its external oil feed. No way to install a T in that location, so thats why Im looking for another place that others may have installed the temp sensor. Ill check with Dakota Digital and S&S to see if they have any ideas as well. Thanks...

Here's my slightly less than 2 cents worth...

Nobody has ever had an oil temp problem until they install an oil temp gauge.

You would be way better served to use the oil cooler ports for, I don't know... maybe an oil cooler.

Just sayin'

My bike already has the oil cooler installed. What I'm installing is the full 2014+ Dakota digital gauge set for a street glide. The one gauge that is part of the kit is an oil temp gauge that I'm trying to hook up. Thanks...
