Just ordered the digital guard dawg for my 2002 flhtpi. Has anyone installed one of these in an 02" before? Any pointers? They are including the pins for the connectors, how do I remove the pins from the conectors? It will likely be a week before it arrives, so hoping for some helpful input.
Sounds like the earlier models where only changing the relay, if I'm not mistaken the bikes could be bum started if ignition was on. The one I'm getting also ties in with the ignition and start switch hence the extra wires. I won't know completely until I get the unit and see it for myself. They assured me it could not be started unless fob was in range, and if I wanted I could remove the key switch except I'd be unable to lock the steering. Did you have to run a wire to the battery for power on the earlier ones?
From there website.
Simply disconnect the Ignition and Accessory wires from your existing Ignition Key switch and attach them to the KIM-U power harness. Next locate the two wires coming from the right hand control harness that are connected to the bikes Run / Stop switch, Connect the KIM – U control wires to these, Lastly attach the systems ground wire and installation is complete.

That sounds about what they told me on the phone, maybe I misunderstood and thought there is wires to cut or remove the pins. I originally sent them an email asking questions, didn't hear back right away, a week later I got a call from them apologizing for not returning my email. I talked with them for a short bit, he offered me a discount so I purchased it right then and there. Hopefully it is an easy install.
Finally got the digital guard dawg security system in the mail took a long time to get, usps was very slow this time. I'm dissapointed I thought this was going to be a plug and play system, I wouldn't have ordered it from them if I had known I was going to have to cut wires. I got dinged with duty on it as well, from the extra costs involved I should have gotten the Harley oem system, would have only been another $50 cdn. Hopefully installation goes smoothly, I'm not very good at wiring. Will post as to how it goes.
