I live in Nebraska and here it seems like every HD you see is an UC. For that reason, I would not want an UC.

I rode just long enough with the Tourpak to wonder how I ever got along without it! I can buy lots of other bling with the money I saved from the unneccessary cost of the quick detach kit. Must be an old-fogie thing...!

Here in the Seattle area, it's the Street Glide thatrules -- seems like everyone has one! At my local dealership, it's priced higher than my EG Classic. I'll stick with the EG.

My first Harley was an '05 Ultra. I loved it from the ride home from the dealer, but when the Street Glides came out in '06 I often thought that I would have bought on of them instead.

Last week I couldn't stand it any more, got a great deal and bought an '07 FLHTC. My choice was narrowed down to the Street Glide or the Classic, and they cost virtually the same.

For me, I ride solo 99.9% of them time and intend to pull a trailer. So ...

Ultra -
PITA to detach the tourpak. Too much wiring to disconnect and stow.
I NEVER used the intercom or CB functions.

Street Glide -
Would need to add cruise and a tourpak
FLHT trailer hitches don't fit

Classic -
Added Cruise control

I kept the lowers from the Ultra, as well as the saddlebag and tourpak liners. So the only thing missing for me was cruise control, that cost $500 to have added before delivery. I can quick disconnect the tourpak and only have one antenna wire to disconnect and stow.

The other mods I am planning on would have to be done to any of these.

Slip Ons
Hog Tunes
Seat upgrade

IMHO the Ultra is the best bike for the two up rider. The Street Glide is for the guy who rarely tours and doesn't need the storage, and the Classic is the answer for me, a solo long distance rider.

An Ultra vs. a Street Glide decked out w/ lowers and a tour pack and a comfy seat.......... is there any difference in ride quality?

The FLHX comes with 12 inch HD air shocks, the ride is noticeably harsher than the 13 inch shocks that come on the Electra Glides. Not a big deal to swap, for 13" HD shocks, Progressive 440s, or Works Performance.

It all depends on what you are going to do with the bike.

Around town/bar hopper get the Street Glide

Long distance, one up/two up, get the Ultra (it can also be a around town/bar hooper)

Detaching the tour pak can be done, but it's not an easy task. You have quite a bit of wiring that needs to be dealt with and then need to stow the tour pak in a safe place. The detach works great on any bike but the Ultra because of the wiring factor. (With the ultra, you have two antennas, lighting wiring, and speaker and radio control wiring)

I ride my Ultra pretty much every day unless there is ice and snow out, had it on the dragon, have done Daytona, Myrtle, and Sturgis with it. Also have been grocery shopping, day tripping, and just a nice afternoon ride on it.

It handles just as well as any heavy weight bike (and better than some), and is just a very comfortable ride.
The one and only problemI do have, is the comfort level it provides the wife. She will fall asleep every now and again, and that is just not a good thing, when you start to slow, and feel her bump up against your back.

I went with the Streetglide, added tourpak for short trips and have regular sissybar for goffying around both are detachable. I also set up with trailer hitch.
