Default Cleaning the windshield

Probably a dumb question, but...

Just got a detachable windshield for the bike. What do you all feel is the best method for cleaning the bugs off. Also, is there anything NOT to use on it, since it is plexi-glass. And is RainX bad for it?

actually ... the bug cleaner that HD sells works very well. Spray it on ... leave it for a few min ... then wipe-off and clean. Works great on lexan to get rid of the bugs. There are other things you can use but the BUG Spray stuff that HD sells works on painted surfaces and shields. So you can use it on your fenders etc.

Wet a microfiber towel with warm water and let it sit on the windshield for a few minutes to soften them up, then wipe them off.

I use PLEX, you can buy it at a Honda shop or metric dealer. Use a very soft clothe also, otherwise it will get scratched. I spray it on and then take my fingers with a rubber glove to loosen all the bugs then spray some more and eventually wipe. If you don't have a professional type soft cloth a wife beater type t-shirt works well.

I also use PLEX just to wipe the whole bike down in between cleanings.

Things not to use and I learned this from experience, windex and papertowel. It will scratch the hell out of it.

Plexus is abolutely the BEST plastic cleaner made. We don't sell it either, but, we should (I obviously have no impact on my dealer - LOL). Of course, NEVER use a paper towel on plastic - only use a cotton or microfiber cloth.

Go to Home depot in the glass section where they have the lexan and plexiglass they also have the microfiber towells and a quart? bottle of GE lexan, plexiglass, lucite, and allplastic spray cleaner for like 5 bucks, works super and is so cheap you will not be stingy in using it. I can tell no difference from the stuff I got at the dealer for a LOT more money.

DO NOT USE RAIN-X!!

I ruined a RKC windshield with that stuff. Expensive lesson learned.
