I just wanna get something better than what I have (stock 07 Eglide Class) now. I will tell what I am doing to get a new pair. I ride around town with the music as load as it goes hoping one day the speakers will blow up. This is the only way I can get new ones (according to the BOW - Bank of Wife - if they blow up). So that is what I do and hopefully by reading and researching this forum and other google searches, I will be happy with what I buy. I have a 1000 watt kick arss stero in my truck that has wontruck showsand want a nice system for the bike. I know I won't have what is in the truck (wind and honking horns aside), but the best is what I want. Please post what you find out and if you can post audio files for us to hear the difference for our selves. I heard an audio of the hog tunes and they were cool. Help a newbe (to baggers with radios) out. thank you and have a great day! Remi
well finaly received speakers and installed them.overall i think hogtunes and j&m are very close in everything from quality to performance.personally i think hogtunes has a little better bass, maybe because ithas a lot heavier magnet but,i give j&m the edge inhigher volumes.these
speakers can definatly crank out some music.i would not hesitate to buy either one,but for now i will keep the j&m's in my bike.mike
Appreciate the review....it only adds to the confusion on which one I think I will buy! No really, you are the first to compare and it is appreciated. Bass is important and so is loud, clear tunes at cruise speeds. I will be riding a couple of runs this weekend and plan on doing to research for all the goodies I have been looking at. Pipes, Fuel manager, race tuners, and now speakers and iPod holders/location to hold a iPod. Thanks bluebagger06...ya'll keep it safe this weekend and enjoy the ride, Remi
I am a huge J&M fan I am a musician on the weekends with a pretty nice size recording studio in my house for jingles. Please take note. If you have a 06 or 07 touring bike DO NOT waste your money on the speaker upgrade. I have a 2007 Street glide. I liked the idea of the outside tweeter from J&M. I have a good ear guys. The Harmon Kardon speakers that come with the bike are as good if not better that the J&M. Please remember I like J& M products. I had a 2005 K1200 BMW with the full blown J&M system. I like their products and their service. But in this case If I took the stock speakers out to look at them first I would have never placed the J&M speakers in. The magnets, and tweeter are the same if anything the bass might be stronger on the stock speakers the highs might be better on the J&M speakers. I like the way the J&M look with the little exposed tweeter. I wish It would have been a better upgrade. They are just over 100 bucks so If you want to make your fairing look a little fancy do it it will not hurt. Again J&M is an awesome company they make the best head sets out there by far (I have 7 sets to choose from ) IF You want to spend $$ spend it on a Garmin Zumo 550. It is the best cycle gadget available. Its a GPS a MP3 player and a XM radio (with the antenna) It comes with all the hardware and I ran a plug into the AUX in on my radio. I now have turn by turn commands and a MP3 player. I must say Again I think J&M is a great company but in this case its NOT an upgrade on the front speakers..... Peace.
So you are saying the stock HD speakers in my 2006 Street Glide are as good as it gets? Well I can tell you that the Hog Tunes I installed to replace the stock speakers are much better than the HD ones! I guess everyone has their own opinion but I can tell a big difference between them. I am no musician and may be tone deaf but I can tell what sounds better to me. i guess I wasted my money. First time too I bet!
Sorry to be such a downer, but I've been in the music industry for more than 20 years. I went over to the J & M booth in Myrtle Beach and they had a display of original equipment and then the J&M's with the tweeter in the grill. Well until your fully cranked there is almost no decernable difference. Yes there probably better than stock, but not by much. I was expecting more bass along with the mids and highs from the tweeter butit just weren't there. I walked over with money in hand ready to buy and ended up walking away.I haven't heard hog tunes but I'm sure their better than stock too in the right situations. I think i can do better at a local Best Buy or Circuit City and no I don't work for either.
Sorry not trying to be a A$$. Just my honest opinion.
StreetGlide06, I have to agree...thespeakers I got with my 07 Eglide Classis sound like a 1980's Radio Shack two speaker boom box running on old batteries...at city speeds no less.Hogtunes or JM?????? If bass is better with the Hogtunes, most likely going with them....I will see what I can find out this weekend. Remi
