The real test is when riding. When I installed mine I too thought not much difference when it was setting in the garage. Took it of a ride and that is when I really noticed the difference.

Sorry to be such a downer, but I've been in the music industry for more than 20 years. I went over to the J & M booth in Myrtle Beach and they had a display of original equipment and then the J&M's with the tweeter in the grill. Well until your fully cranked there is almost no decernable difference. Yes there probably better than stock, but not by much. I was expecting more bass along with the mids and highs from the tweeter butit just weren't there. I walked over with money in hand ready to buy and ended up walking away.I haven't heard hog tunes but I'm sure their better than stock too in the right situations. I think i can do better at a local Best Buy or Circuit City and no I don't work for either.

Sorry not trying to be a A$$. Just my honest opinion.

well thats what this is about, almost full volume, anyone with pipescrusing need lot of volume, thats why i said(in my opinion j&m are clearer)

I'm running the Hogtunes Ultrasound amp, front speakers and rear pods on my 05 Classic. For the most part I'm happy with this set-up but, for the cost, I was expecting a bit more. I think it all comes down to size. There's only so much you can hope for with just 5 1/4 inches. Size does matter.

I have an 06 Steet Glide. Stock HK were ok at low speeds but not on highway. Went with Hoge Tunes. I think they are not as good as stock. Reading about the J&M's and not excited. Is there something better ? At any price ??? I am willing to replace the entire system as long and the hand controlls still work.

Jeff, I have been posting about this for the last couple days. What I have learned is that if you have deep pockets, go with the Hawg Wired setup with the amp. I hear that has been the best so far but be prepared to spend some loot. Me, I can't justify spending almost $1000 just for speaker replacements and an amp. For $1000, I can rip the whole system out and start over and have one hell of a system. Problem is I'm not looking to do that. Gonna head to Best Buy in a few minutes to listen to the Infinity speakers. Just sold my Hogtunes so I can check those off the list. My quest continues and will keep all updated.

I have both HogTunes and J&M, I couldnt hear the Hogtunes at highway speeds cranked all the way up. Even with my half helmet. I bought and installed the J&M while in Sturgis for the ride home. I woremy Scorpion3/4 helmet with a full face shield and let me tell you, I "did not" need to have thevolume much over the 1/2 way mark to hear while traveling at +85mph, also when at max volume the music is not destorted, like with the HogTunes. I'm very pleased with J&M.

I could only wonder how well J&M would sound with an Amp. John if youre reading this, do you have plans for an "Optional" amplifier? I know you don't need it...but there are allot of things on our bikes we... "Don't Need"

NewHog ,,,,,,

thank you for the speaker comparision post ,,,, and as I have stated here before, I have tested and compared the J&M speaker upgrades for the Harley against most of the competition and the J&M's are the loudest at speed, without distortion, without the need for an additional amplifier ,,,,

However ,,,, there are two things in this business I have learned in the past 29 years ,,,,,,,

one is, is that I seldom offer for sale anything that I would not buy myself ,,,,,,,

second ,,, is that you don't always sell what you want to sell ,,,, you offer for sale "what-the-customer-wants-to-buy" ,,,,,,,,,,,,

and if I keeep getting requests for an additional amplifier to be connected to the J&M speakers ,,,, we will offer one in 2008 ,,,,,

the final decision has not yet been made though ,,,,,,,

and my brain keeps falling back to my original reason for not offering an amp in the first place ,,,,,,,

WHY, if the J&M speaker upgrades for the Harley give you more than enough volume and clarity at 75+ mph, with the stock radio ,,, WHY add an amp which will only add additional weight in the fairing, draw more power from the charging system, generate more heat in the fairing and may squawk or squeal when the CB radio is keyed up ((if you have a CB )) ,,,,,,

that is my question ,,,,,, JMJOHN ,,,, john@jmcorp.com ,,,,,,
