I was looking at an 07 Ultra that had a pair of Reinhart slipons on it. I noticed that the end cap was a gold color, which is different fom the black that I have seen on most all the pictures I have looked at. Can anyone tell me what, if any is the difference between the two. Thanks
More than likely, it has turned color due to the extreme heat on some 07s. I had mine turn red/gold on theright pipe shortly after I had them installed. I did call Bub and they were happy to ship me another but I did have to show proof of purchase.
Again, they will gladly replace the part, just give them a call.
gold? Would think those are different end-caps. Stock are the anodized aluminum caps (black). They have a couple different Chrome Caps you can put on 'em as well. If they are 'gold' in color. Wonder if that is just yellowing of the Chrome Caps.
Being they are slip-ons for the stock exhaust I almost wonder if they didn't put on the Stage 1 Air Cleaner or have it recalibrated for the air/fuel changes. Probably someone threw on the pipes and didn't change anything else. That is usually not such a good thing. You now have higher flowing exhaust with a very very lean engine. Lotsa heat from it. If it is missing a stage 1 air cleaner and/or either a download/PCIII/SERT/FuelPack/Thundermax...etc I wouldn't be interested in that bike. Ya go to a a high-flow exhaust exhaust muffler but are restricted on the rest. Ya end up not pushin out the exhaust fast enough and ya "cook' ya pipes and mufflers.
That would be my guess about the 'gold' on the caps.
Another question and I think i read about this the other day. The sales guy told me that the adjustments will be made automatically by the FI system. I believe the consensus was that this is BS. Correct

The gold is either a custom anodized color or just the picture quality. The black end caps can turn purple if they get too much heat. On the stock exhaust, the right side runs hotter since the majority of the exhaust flows from that side. Many times the right side turns purple and the left stays black.
