Default '13 Road King - help w/license plate light 2 blk wires???

Swapping out rear stock signal bar with Kuryayn bullet bar. Turn signal wiring matches, but existing wires for license plate light are both black. Instructions don't show any match to this. Anyone know how I'd wire the red and black of the Kuryakyn plate light to HD plug??

the red should be + on the Krapkin

you wire into pins 1 and 3 on the upper left block on the taillight ( pin 2 is brake light)

pin 3 should be ground,
pin 1 should be +

the old road king bar is pretty useful for those of us who remove our tourpak- you can probably get $60 for it on the classifieds with the plate mount- more if you add the solid top tail light lens

Thanks Mike. when you say pin 1 do you mean pin 1 in the connector or pin 1 (left side of the block in the housing)? My connector labeled 1 will end up in pin 3 position on the block.

yes left hand most pin is #1 ( and maybe labeled on the black connector?)- with that removed you'll see there are 3 pins under there coming from the bike- the middle one, #2 is brake light power, used on some models for the fendertip light with brake light

in a wiring block/ connector- HD almost always uses the last position for ground

on the 2 black wires you had stock, they are probably marked...and stripping, printed, or embossed markings show which of the 2 wires is positive- unmarked in ground
( like on the lamp cord in your living room, one side of the wiring is marked with ridges or awg rating ...)

get someone to help you may sure the bar is level when you mount it- I have a center stand ( EZUP) so easy for me, but you can use a lift to hold the bike upright- or a pal...

get another Pal to stand behind the bike and eyeball level, or use a bubble level...while you snug the bolts...check and then final tighten...locktite!

my 09 FLHTC with 2010 RK signal bar/ plate mount, solid lens:
