I'm shipping to CA, Can't wait. I did Rolling Thunder in DC last three years. Wife says I have to be home Saturday to cook for the crowds. So after Saturday's run I'll be heading out.

Been doing Rolling Thunder for the last 10 years. Great advice = get there early We usually end up in the same location by leaving at 7am. One thing I learned after my 1st trip = BRING AN UMBRELLA. There is very little shade. The 6 hours seem to go by quickly.
I always ride back on the Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge parkway/Cherohala Skyway. If you haven't done those, you should make the time - it is a once in a lifetime trip. I'm very lucky that I can ride it every year.

2 years ago my dealer did a Route 66 trip - took a full week. Most of the group shipped their bikes back, but I have always wanted to see if I could do a Saddlesore 1000, so I took advantage of that trip and did the SS1000 on the way back. Best 2 weeks I've ever had. Don't know when my boss will let me take 2 weeks again.
Not bad for a 73 year old and still got it.

Hope you have made room reservations. I just did 2 days ago - almost all gone = low price rooms that is. Plenty of $500/night rooms available. we always stay at the Marriot Key Bridge. Watch out - parking is usually an extra charge at the hotels. $25+/night.

Good luck stop by and say hello - look for the old guy in a black t-shirt and a beard. LOL
