Okay, so I have searched just about every section I can find and no go on the answer.
Bought the HD Billet highway peg mounts and the Streamliner pegs to go on the engine guard of my 07 Street Glide. Dry fitted everything and it's all good. Install everything and it's not so good. The damn clamps won't tighten enough to keep the pegs from swiveling out. I've got a tapered head hex wrench that fits perfectly, but the screws seem to bottom out and the inner and outer clamps just barely touch.
F**king swiveling ba**ards!!!
Is this freaking crash bar undersized or what??? Anyone else have this problem? I had the dealer run the part numbers for the mounts, and they fit the 07's....just not mine.
Any ideas? I know the last Honda Davidson I owned had this problem so I added two half sleeves of copper pipe under them and they never moved again. Scratched the sh*t outta the engine guard, but never moved. I refuse to resort to this again.
I have always used Kuryakyn mounts and have never had any problems... Son bought some bittet clamps from a aftermarket supplier and his mounts\pegs would walk when ever he used the pegs to move himself back... We just put a piece of rubber under the clamp and it's worked so far???
Crash bars range in size from 1", 1.125" to 1.250" (1", 1 1/8", 1 1/4")make sure you have the right size pinch clamps on the pegsfor the size bars you have.
I added the hd short 360 swivel clamps w/the streamliner pegs for my rk custom. They have never move a bit. And I am a big fat guy and push on them hard, and still no movement. Something isn't right.-
I normally buy the aftermarket 3 piece clamps and before I mount I put a wrap of black
electrical tape around the bar.
Makes a tighter fit and stops the bar and clamp from eventually rusting and pitting in
that place.
But on your billet like someone above said, check your bar diameter versus the clamp
diameter. I think you got wrong ones.
But if they are close you can try the tape and / or
add a washer under the bolt head or file a small ammount off both clamps ends where they
would normally meet together.
I usually cut a small strip of ten speed bike inner tube and put it between the crash bar and the peg clamps. Keeps them from turning and protects the finish on the crash bar.
