After relocating to Idaho and a few day trips (truck) to Yellowstone the wife blindsides me with
"I want to start riding with you"
Me: ok great we'll get you a bike and you can learn...
Wife: nope I just want to ride with you.
Mind you we've been married 20 years she has never wanted to even go near my bikes. So this is really really out of left field.
But here is the problem, she's 5'8 and long in the body, all I can envision is her getting beat up by the wind. I'd rather not get this off to a bad start for her, which is going to do a better job of pushing the wind, up and over ? The Batwing or the Roadglide?
This totally turned my bike shopping upside down, was going to get a fatboy S but looks like I'm coming back to touring bikes.

I have had 3 batwings and now own a 2016 Road Glide Ultra and I'm a convert. Don't think I'll ever go back to the Batwing. My wife has been riding with me for over 30 years and she likes the Shark better.
wy wife is 5'8". I haven't tried 2 up on the Rushmore Roadglides, But I did have an 06 Roadglide before my current 15 Limited. I tried several windshields on the glide, but she was never that happy on the back. On the Limited, she loves it as long as I stay below 65mph, and complains about the wind at higher speeds.
I'd like to hear what others say as well.
My wife and I have gone through 3 Ultra's with over 150,000 miles in the past 12 years. She loves the comfort and will fall asleep back there at times.
my wife hated the rg(stock windshield) she says the wind hits her right in the ears.never a complaint on the batwing. use a wide windshield with the most height u can still see over.
Had a 15 Road Glide that she hated because of the wind and NOW after I spent $$$ on a couple windshield I have a 16 Road King. She is extremely happy with the new bike
That's great she wants to start riding with you ! With that being said my wife is always with me on our Electraglide , after a few wind shield changes she was very happy with the long ride shields" flat top shield " she said the wind/buffering was much better controlled with this shield , good luck and enjoy your time together..
