Default Baker Compensator with Harley Auto Tebsioner

Over the winter I was thinking of installing the Baker compensator with narrow primary cover on my 2011 Street Glide and keep the auto tensioner so I do not need to remove the outer primary cover for adjustment.

Has anyone done this yet?

I would speak to Baker about this if I were you and see if there were any possible ramifications.
Most say that the chain is too tight w/the auto tensioner.

Yes, I installed the Baker about 5000 miles ago and installed a new Harley auto chain tensioner at the same time. I considered the Baker chain adjuster but it was double the Harley cost and I did not want to open up the primary every 5000 miles to adjust the Baker unit. At the same time I installed the Baker compensator I discovered the primary bearings were shot and I replaced them. Since then I have been told that it is most likely my bearing failures were caused by the Harley auto chain adjuster putting too much pressure on the chain.....then on the clutch basket.....and then onto the bearings..I'd suggest considering the Baker unit or a Hayden, etc. If you stick with the Harley adjuster then you might be doing yourself a favor by checking it/resetting it every 5000 miles to be sure it isn't applying too much pressure.

I found the Harley auto adjuster stuck on my FLHR a couple of years ago, my chain was slap happy in the case and was dragging on the bottom leaving shavings in my drain oil.

I put in the Hayden, and a few months later my clutch basket spline stripped when the bearing failed.

I recently replaced my compensator with the Baker and changed the adjuster to the Baker as well. I just got back from an early Sunday cruise, and really got to appreciate how smooth the ride was; no chain noise, smooth shifting, no clunk when shutting down.

If you don't want to spend money on the same part twice, buy the Baker products. I'll be happy to sell anybody a slightly used Hayden or give them my old HD tensioners!

I don't have the narrow primary cover but I've been running the baker and OEM auto adjuster for a while, no issues. I did try the hayden a couple years ago because everyone said the OEM is crap, hayden sits on my shelf and the OEM went back in.
