The difference people are feeling is in the lower rpm range where the 107 starts with more. If you notice in the 2.5 range the HP is maybe 2-3 more on the 107, but the torque is sitting around say 5-7 more. Is that enough to feel on the butt dyno? Maybe, maybe not, but if you are expecting more out of it then I would say you are finding it. Certainly there is some psychological power there as well.
I find it hard to believe the 2 engines are running that close on dyno runs, the actual real world difference is pretty noticeable from riding both back to back. And so far everyone i know that has taken a test ride felt the same. This is not a post doubting FM its just a post that its hard to imagine they run that close on numbers.
well, look at the torque curves. at 3000 rpm, the 2017 is almost 8 ft/lbs higher. at 3500 rpm, it's still 3 or 4 ft/lbs higher. even though the hp/torque curves are so close to each other, that's a pretty substantial difference right in the area where a lot of people do most of their riding.
Surprised that the 4 valve head doesn't breathe any better in the upper RPM register.
I figured it would/should show supremacy by 3600-3800 RPM at the latest.
Guess I'll keep my lowly 103HO.
Presented as the results of a brand new stock 107 versus a new stock 103. I got tnhis at the dealer and really don't know how to read it but it seems to be impressive to those that do.
Still cheaper to throw cams in the 103 than buy the M8
Yeah I don't think anyone is riding Harleys cause they're cheap. And the added torque of the M8 is only the beginning on how this bike is better than the TC.
I knew when I rode one two days after release I wanted one. I wanted one bad. But I also new that dealers would be marking down twin cams to move them. The thought of a 110" TC for less than my M8 cost me was tempting for a minute or two. But there would be much more that I'd be giving up. Much, much smoother. Much better handling. I'm glad I didn't worry about the added expense.
