Default Trunk Rack- Who Uses?

Planning to do longer travels and overnights with the wife this year. Debating on adding a rack on top of the trunk? Those that have added, do you regret? Do you end up adding too much weight up high or those with stock, do you wish it wasnt there?

I use it- you can really only carry 15 pounds or so.

too many guys try opening the T/P lid with bag strapped on and break the plastic around the hinges.

I use mine for a SAC bag with sleeping bag, light jacket and maps

the evo had the premium rack it was very good

my TC has the airwing which is smaller- I liked the other rack better. But this has the led kit which is a plus

When we need it, we use it. Very handy.

We use it! I let the wife pack a bag that fits nicely on top of it. Then it comes off whenever we get where we're going and stays off till we leave. If possible, pack lil stuff you might need on the tops of your saddle bags instead of in the tour pack so you don't have to worry about opening it. (tho it really wasn't a problem, i was just careful)

We use ours all the time . When opening trunk I'm real careful
and hold the weight of the bag while the wife gets what's needed
out of the trunk . I try not to put anything in the trunk that's
needed on a regular basis .

I use mine on every trip I take.
Be careful that your bag or the bungees/cargo net doesn't sag down and rub against the paint.

I (like most) usually overload it a bit but I've never had a problem with the rack, tour pack or the lid but I did break two of the mounting racks that support the tour pack (inferior products) on my '00 Ultra. I also had to replace both the lid hinges and the latches. FWIW, I replace the OEMS with the Premium ones and they look much better.

I try to put stuff like my sneakers, dirty clothes or rain gear inside of a garbage bag then place it in the bag on top as they're lighter and I don't have to worry too much about them getting wet as much as I would with my other clothes.

I also have a huge Saddleman BR4100 bag than fits on the passenger seat between me and the tour pack (I remove the rider backrest) that I can use for longer trips and it carries enough stuff for two weeks without doing laundry.

I strap one of the Harley rack specific bags on there for big trips. I put light stuff in it like gloves, sunglasses, cell phone, stuff that I want quick and easy access to at stops. Wouldn't tour without it.

I always use mine on trips. Good for light but bulky items, like sleeping bags or extra clothes. Good place to keep a jacket handy for those rides where you expect big temperature changes too.

I use mine a lot. Really handy for jackets when its too warm. My wife found a small light suitcase fits the rack perfectly. I put and HD sticker on so it looks pricey but isn't. I'm very careful when opening if anything is on the rack. Too many horror stories about guys that have cracked their tour pak near the hinges. Usually whatever is in the bag is not needed until the destination is reached so the bungees are not disturbed. I keep rain gear extra gloves and sun screen in the saddle bag so I hopefully don't have to open the tour pak until I stop.

I use it on long trips with a rack bag. I have the Harley one with the light, wired as only a brake light, so it also adds to braking visibility.
