Thinking about getting a RKS. I'm on the short side 5'7" ... and although I can easily flat foot the stock seat seems a bit wide ... and another inch lower would be great. What after market seats are good for this bike and us shorter folks?
I'm 5'6 and love my '19 RKS...it fits me very well. The shorter shock makes a world of difference over the '16 Road King I had for making it more manageable as a daily rider. My standard King showed it's weight much more in stopping and parking maneuvers. If traffic was bad, or for short hop errands I'd opt for my Dyna or Heritage, but the RKS makes it a no brainer to jump on and whip around without any extra consideration. Highly recommend it.
As for modding the bike you may want to just ride the bike and break in the seat a bit before doing anything drastic. Since you're already flat footed on the bike I wouldn't mess with the shocks or seat but one option would be to just get the stock seat thinned out on the sides first. I'm 6'1" and I swapped in my Ohlins shocks from Howard and finally upgraded the seat to a Lepera Daddy Long Legs but that seat ran me over $600.00. works well. There are a couple companies that make skinnier profile seats and maybe some members here will chime in with their thoughts.
Well I don't see a deal happening soon on a RKS. Dealers are outta their minds here in NorCal. Maybe next year and see what colors come out lol
Maybe check a SoCal dealer and break it in on the ride home.
Santa Clarita Harley and Glendale Harley are good dealers (same owners) and usually are MSRP. Inventory is scarce so getting a deal under MSRP might be tough, but otherwise they are fair and no BS. Call Santa Clarita and talk to Ernie Snair - head of sales.
I’ve never had a bad experience with them in 17 years and several bikes.

Have you checked Cycle Trader and HD4sale websites for slightly used ones? I found a silver 2020 with only 3,500 miles on it and over 5k in accessories just 3 hours from my home. This was May of this year and I got it from the original owner who purchased it new in Dec 2020. $20k and I rode it home.

Yes been looking and haven't seen any deal close to that. Congrats!
