All baggers will come with extended bags and we will see a lot of blacked out bikes. That is what my son has told me and he works for a dealer

You know, I can see this. My 30 year old son asked me about the Road King Special he saw on a commercial last week. He says that is the first Harley he might buy.

I don't really get the reason why you'd pay more for black than for chrome. Is powder coating more expensive than chroming? I doubt it.

Longer bags. That makes some sense. But not standard for 2018 You'd pay more. like with the FLHRS, which costs more money for less content, IMO.

Ya know, not all powder coating is created equal. A lotta folks go out to a plating shop, and make their choices based upon price. What they end up with is a low quality powder coating that looks pretty good, but isn't any more durable than sprayed on paint.

What I suspect, and the reason that Harley powder coating costs more, is that they use an upgraded level of powder coating. Much tougher. Recently, I wanted to change my handlebar levers to black, from the OEM aluminum color. I coulda bought them for twenty, thirty bux from a number of sources, but I bought a pair for $139.95 from the dealership, just because of durability/quality issue. I have no facts to substantiate this, but I've observed that the stuff they use isn't as liable to chip or mar as cheaper parts.

Your experiences and opinions may differ...it's okay!

The dealers themselves don't even know what's coming for '18 yet so I don't see how your son possibly could. They're probably just throwing him a few red herrings.

After last year's leaked photos of the M8 engine you can bet security around the new models will be ultra-tight this year.

A higher-up at one of the prominent local HD dealerships told me that the RGS and SGS will become the "standard" models.

I don't think the 2018 touring line is going to change. They 'd **** off too many people. THey're into the Softtails and Dynas for 2018. Maybe some color changes maybe not for the Touring line. That's all.
Yeah, that is what I thought and the sales gal told me when I bought my '16 Limited last June.

I've considered buying a 14,15,16, over the new M8 because of this but the M8 motor I do believe is going to be a better overall platform than the Twinkies.

Unless you are having trouble with drooling now, I'd wait a few weeks and see what they come out with. If ya like what ya see, pick up the new one. If ya don't, then the 17 is yesterday's news and you can work a better deal.

You'll just have to find a workaround that embarrassing condition for a short while!

You can do it!
