Default Pick up a 2017 or wait for 2018?

Contemplating a Road King or Road Glide...while that is a question all by itself, I'm wondering if 2018 will introduce anything new to these models. We here talk of a new shared frame but seems less likely to affect existing touring models. Any thoughts? Bite the bullet now or see what August will bring?

u are 2 close 2 seeing the 18's. I would wait. I think there will be plenty of 17s if you don't like the 18s.

Get an 17 RG and enjoy the Summer. I have not heard of any for sure big changes in the RK or RG for 18, but that does not mean anything. On one hand you are only about half a year away from the new models but on the other hand if you are always waiting on the next newest model you will never buy. All I can tell you is my 17 RGU puts a big ole smile on my face every time I get on it

Cool

Or pick up an old stock '16?! This is an annual predicament, which just rolls and rolls, never stopping. Leave it too long and 2019 will be on the horizon! Take your courage in both hands and make a decision.....

I'd say get a 16 or wait for the 18. I believe there will be improvement on the 18's from lessons learned on the 17's

Any improvements...would be rolling "fixes" in the 17s, I doubt very much HD would make any tangible upgrades to any of the current M8s. It is very expensive to retool a manufacturing process, and they just did that, and need to get their return. After all the new '16s on the dealer floors are sold, they need to sell the '17s. They can't give a reason to ignore the 17s and have to firesale them.

But, I'd expect more significant changes to the other non M8 bikes.

BTW,..there's a huge difference between a RG & RK. I'd rent one of each for a weekend, to figure out which you prefer for your style of riding.

I want a new M8 Roadglide but until they do something to lighten the clutch pull on these new bikes it ain't happening. Damaged nerve has made my left hand too weak to operate those clutches for long. The pull on my Dyna is sooooo much lighter. I've considered buying a 14,15,16, over the new M8 because of this but the M8 motor I do believe is going to be a better overall platform than the Twinkies.
