Bought a stock header with cat removed from ebay. It bolted up perfect. not a single issue. Installed about a month ago but weather in new england in march was horrible. Finally rode it today. The bike runs so much better. I have a tuner on it and didnt need a new map. I always felt like this bike felt like it had a rag stuffed in the mufflers from day one after coming off an 08 Fat Bob with no cat from the factory. Have had FM Pro Touring slipons for a couple years on the bike. Today the bike ran so good and throttle response is defiantly better. No more potato in exhaust feel. Love it. Best thing i did. Its to bad Harley has to shove these cats in theyre exhausts. almost shameful
Sounds like the right combination of parts! I did a similar thing to my 2015 FLHTCU. De-catted stock pipe, Street Glide CVO take-off mufflers, and the FP3. It's like a whole different bike...and my mileage has remained the same. Plenty more "snort." .
Good to hear, my catted headers are goners the first chance I get to change em. My '15 103 runs MUCH hotter than my '12 103 + that'll kill a MC engine faster than anything!
Just put on the de-catted headers as well this past weekend....bike ran great...exhaust sounds more open. Soon to put new slipons, air intake, and tuner.
As much as we think the bikes run "better" without the conveter, they don't. They just feel faster because you and your passenger's right leg is not being cooked!
As there is no real performance benefits removing the cat, (strictly a reduction in heat adding comfort to riders), buuuut as you no longer have the cat "that also acted like a resonator", sound is slightly louder giving the illusion of going faster.

2012 FLHR (Road King) Ember Red Sunglo & Merlo Cruise Control, ABS, Chrome Aluminum Profile Laced Spoke Tubeless Wheels, Security Package, Saddle Bag LED Lid Spoilers, and an array of accessories that enhances nostalgic appearance & blood curdling performance.
Great spirits have always encountered violent oppositions from mediocre minds.
I did the basic stage 1 all at a once...Fuel Moto x-pipe, Jackpot slip-ons, air filter, and Power Commander. Definitely felt a performance gain from the *combined* package, and no more blazing heat from that factory catted head pipe.
