Default Cams

I had that kit installed in my 06 dyna with a set of 211 cams. It had great low end torque.
Another, if you pull the crank out thing, have the crank trued and balanced and the flywheel welded. Unless it is a bolt on flywheel.

Skip the HD kit and call Jamie at Fuel Moto. You may spend about the same amount, but you'll end up with a better engine.

Thank you all.....
I am TRYING to be an informed consumer.... but the data is confusing, and often in conflict with itself.... which is WHY I posted... and I got great information.
"kits" run from $900 to $3900, and seemingly with same, or similar parts.... and when speaking to builders, they first start with what they would want, on an unlimited budget... and it takes a while to get through to them, and get them to understand this is a motorcycle, that will see the road, and NOT the drag strip....bar....or even the show stage...
Spending crazy money, someone said.... I'm not sure how one defines "crazy money" worse case, I spend in the neighborhood of 5 grand....
I see folks spending near that on BIG wheels, with all other parts needed.... heck, I demoed the M-8, and while it's a good bike..... after I got the seat, pipes, shocks, handlebars right..... I'd be a couple of grand in the whole, and pay a boat load for a new bike....
Sure $5 grand is a lot to spend on a 2005 FLTRi with over 140,000 miles.... but it's cheaper than buying a new bike and setting it up..... even if I found a low mileage cream puff, I'd still be facing an engine update...
again... thanks guys.... now that I am armed with "facts" as I strip the engine down, and mic what I have, and check out what is there to work with..... at least now I know what the "skinny" is

Frank, take your time...get your crank addressed first, the decide what you are going with as far as kit...As said Fuelmoto, Hillside, Kendall Johnson...I was in the same boat but not as bad with 92000 miles. I opted for a complete engine.....look around for those as well....get more power though, you won't regret it, the old girl still has plenty of miles in her bones like mine. Good luck and keep us posted.

well she is apart.... heads came off easily....and with 140k, were pretty clean.... new guides and seals.... and a little seat magic, is all that is needed
Jugs came off easily as well... and DAYUM..... the cross hatching is still visible, and cylinder walls smooth as a baby's butt....

Crank looked in fine shape as well.... no excessive play....
Oil pump.... looked like it was fresh off the shelf...
Front cam..... ahhhhhhhhh now I know what that noise was........
Front cam bearing came apart...... thank goodness all of the parts stayed in place, and didn't travel causnig damage.. BUT ....the tip of the cam is shot (lobes ar untouched), and the bearing race has a gouge.
So it's off to the machine shop....

Meanwhile I will keep playing the Dave Clark Five's greatest hit (I'm in pieces, bits and pieces)
And on the bright side, I will ride my wife's bike, until I an get the "Golden Turd" back on the road..
It's a Honda... but I'd rather RIDE than not...
A buddy tried to give me grief about the wrong "H"
But I explained what HONDA stands for

Dependable
Alternative...

uhhhhhh that's a joke... I say that's a JOKE, son.. (in my best Foghorn Leghorn voice)

speaking of Foghorn Leghorn...... are you and your crew heading to Laurel Springs next week end?
Gonna be a fun filled week end of riding

I did the S&S 97 inch big bore with the SE ported heads and still running my 510G cams on my 06 Heritage. It's cranking out 98 HP and 102 lb torque. It runs circles around my 2013 103 Limited. Just my 2 cents worth
