I just finished cleaning out the carb on a 1999 Softail. One of the hoses on the very bottom of the carb came off during the process. It's still attached to the carb but I don't know where the other end was connected to. I think it's a vacuum hose but I'm not sure. The bike starts but has a fast idle.
there is a thin, thin drain hose attached to the bottom of the float bowl...it drops down and behind the rear pushrods and dangles down by the oil pump
if you ever wanted to drain the float bowl (like if you think you have water or crud), fish the hose out and put the end into a container and then open up the drain...a long screwdriver from the left side of the bike
