I can tear an ironhead sportster engine down and up again in my sleep, same with a shovel, but these twin cams scare me. Too many little parts.

I had a small oil leak on the rear rocker box base so I decided to install rockouts and replace the lifters while I had it mostly torn down anyway. I will say they did make a difference but did not eliminate the ticking completely. Maybe it is caused by something else, I don't know. It was worth the $16 definitely, but I wouldn't go through the trouble unless I was tearing into it anyway.

If you can do that...
You can do this. It's really no big deal.
I believe many here have done it without pulling the tank.

You don't have to pull the tank completely, but you will have to unbolt it and lift it. A 2x4 under it will keep it out of your way. It is really quite easy. Just make sure the cam is on the base circle before you pull the rockers. You do have a service manual, right?
