Ok, here we go. I'm 5'10", 180#.
08 E Glide. Feet are rather flat to the ground on factory seat.
The factory seat leaves my tailbone in pain after say, 1.5 hours of riding. The Queen on the back is doing fine and happy as peaches and cream.
I've now tried a Harley "Reach Seat and a Sundowner. Both do nothing but make matters worse.
I would like to get a bit lower and move up an inch. When making tight U-turns my throttle hand is too far out. Plus I want to be comfortable for longer than an hour and a half. Gotta lot of miles to put on this year.
Gotta be someone out there my size riding an E Glide with a better seat than I have.
Thanks guys. Tried the Harley Hammock today - no better. Actually caught myself slouching.
Anyways, found a guy who had the same problem. He led me on to a shop that can re-work the seat, such as Mean City. Going to give it a try. I'm thinking having the seat built to my size and weight will be the best bet.
Have to stick to short trips for a couple weeks.
Send it to Mean City Cycles for an upgrade on your factory seat. Worth every penny.
I agree. Tell them what you want and you'll get it. Definitely ask about cutting a tailbone channel in the foam if that's where you're having pain. My OEM roadking got reworked by them and its awesome....I forget how much it cost but it was way less than buying a new seat/multiple seats.
It's a crap shoot to recommend a seat to another person because everyone is different. Just the same. I am the same size as you and I like this seat quite a bit: https://ultimateseats.ca/harley-davi...2011-2012-2013
I had one and sent to Allan @ MCC.
Sold it on this site.
If you're serious about it, catch them at a rally look at their work and then decide and if you do it then ride the bike around a couple days and adjust it as needed.
First though, know what you want.
