whats the reasoning for just doing the back ?

still cant edit ... anyhow you shouldn't just lower the back and not the front it will infact give handling problems. if it because of your height you really need to do both. lowing a bike isn't a half a$$ job do it or not at all

You do need to lower the front forks at least one inch if you drop the rear by an inch and a half. Other wise the bike will lose some the handling in addition to the clearance you will lose on the floor boards when you hit the corners. Take it slow once you make these modifications until you see where you cornering ability is, before you scrape your floorboards.

i just recently went with lowering my rear down to 2 inches but then went back up to one inch because 2 inches just seemed too low. Anyways your question is will this make the bars higher and the answer is no. It actually made it lower but not extremely lower. Now here is what i ended up doing. I ended removing my lowering kit(not sure how your lowering yours but i just used a kit) and i went back to the stock set-up. I had an issue with hard hits on bumps but no issues as far as control of my 08 Ultra Classic. I figured if its hitting this hard with riding solo then 2 up would be worse so not one to enjoy being miserable when riding the stock set up was the way to go for me. If i ever decide to lower later I will go with shocks that allow this because as far as the kits go i wasn't really happy with the end results. One more thing. The only reason I tried lowering was to gain more control and allow a more solid flat footing when stopped. When i lowered an inch i achieved that and it felt perfect but with hard hitting suspension on bumps in the road it wasn't worth the trade in mine and my fiancé comfort.
