Default Road Glide Glare Issues

So I took a new RGS out for a test ride today. Everything was fine until I turned around and was heading back to the dealer, at that point the sun completely washed out the Nav, I couldn't see ****. I tried to adjust the brightness but it was already up as far as it would go. What did I miss? Is there another setting somewhere that I didn't find? I mean I couldn't see it at all.

Is there some kind of film, like tint, that can be applied that cuts the glare? Or is this just something you learn to live with on a RG?

The whole problem is Road Glides are'nt meant to turn around and come back, they preform best by just packing up and going.

Press and hold the right side handle bar info button then it turns to black and white. High contrast...

Some people have made homemade screen visors, and I believe there is a manufactured visor out there. Some screen films exist but I've never heard a great review of them.

As Sam2010 iindicated, high contrast mode works quite well. Some people leave it in this mode all the time.

Ultimately, I fall into the "got used to it" crowd. Getting the sun at the wrong angle doesn't happen to me too often and even when it does, the road usually makes a turn and suddenly the screen is clear again.

The Road Glide is an otherwise awesome bike. I figure that if they made it perfect, everyone would want one.

It only happens when the sun is at a certain angle which in over 2 yrs of having my RGS has only happened a couple of times. It's no big deal. Besides that why would you be spending so much time staring at the damn screen, watch the road big guy? Some people have to bitch about something.

I have owned my RGS for a year now, and as said, this has only happened maybe once or twice, for a very short time.

I feel that if the screen was angled down a tad, we wouldn't have any issues.

But yes, you get use to it. There's been 4 or 5 times the sun is at the perfect angle and it will literally blind you. I just have to hold my hand over the screen.

It's happened to me a bunch. So here's my work around;

1) eyes up until I need to know something "navigational."
2) look down at the screen. (If the glare is there, continue to 3.)
3) raise my LEFT hand over the screen and create a "shadow" over the area I need to see, said info will then be visible.
4) ride on.

Works like a charm.
You're welcome.

Or as mentioned previous to your post, you can avoid this silliness and hand waving by just pressing and holding the right hand info button to put it into contrast mode.

Works like a charm
