Guys, I'm planning a weekend ride to Carthage, NC (from Charlotte). On all of the routes to the destination, Google maps says, "This route has restricted usage or private roads."
I find it odd that all 3 routes have restrictions. Any ideas how I can find if this is legitimate or not?
Do you live in a gated/restricted community? Is your destination address in a gated/restricted community?
What roads are you showing as restricted? When I have seen it in the past, it usually meant government land, like national parks, military bases, or something like that.
Goose, I just put in Carthage but no destination address. I figured once I get there, I'll just explore. It just seems odd that every route that I picked, which shows different ways of getting there, showed the same message.
Could it be because of Uwharrie National Forest?
Could be restricted to types of cargo due to national forest. There are a few around montana with no haz cargo. 2 that I know of are restricted to no double trailers due to curves.

Thanks,
I've ridden around Carthage before and there was no problem with roads. Matter of fact, we were just down through there on NC24 and rode some on US15. I didn't notice anything about restricted anything.
However, NC24 is a Scenic Byway, so if a route was this, that could be the reason for the warning.
I do not know about US15.
