Default Cam swap question

In another thread I mention that I want to attempt a cam swap myself, dealer wants 6 hours labor plus another 200 for a new map from HD. My question isn't about the cams install, but about the tuning afterward. I have a Cobra powerpro black tuner, it only manages fuel/air. If I swap this out with a Powervision tuner can I get things dialed in after installing the new cams without having to take it to the dealer? I am still having some confusion about this part of it. When I bought the bike it already had stage 1. Thanks.

When you order the Powervision, order it with a pre-installed map based upon what you have. Then it will be extremely close and you may not have to do much more. So to answer your question, yes.

And to add to dawg's response, if you order your Power Vision from Fuel Moto, they'll help you tune it yourself with lifetime service on that Power Vision. You can run data logs and send them to Jamie, and he'll FINE tune your map for you to the degree that your dealership will be nothing more than a distant memory as far as your cam job and the follow-up tune in concerned.

Enjoy the project, and just know that the tuning part is a process if you're looking for perfection, but Fuel Moto can help get you to that point.

Good luck!

I can't vouch for all power vision maps from various sources but when I cammed my 2010 before eventually building it to a 107 I got my map from Fuel Moto and it ran fine. I had originally bought it for the stage one on the bike but just sent FM an email before the cam install so I had it. Put the cam in, downloaded the map and went from there.

My bike is cammed. I made a dramatic switch with exhausts from a TD set up to 2/1. Exhaust & PV from FM. Map provided is spot on.

i got a PCV from fuel moto when I did my bore & cams and it ran ok. Did some auto tunes (with wide band kit) and it ran better. Had it dynoed and it ran right. When I did the heads the old map ran good. Installed PV (with custom map from dynatune that ran poor) and got proper Dyno. Now it runs awesome and has been for a few years.
Just saying, most folks are fine with ok and/or better but if ya want it right find someone who can do a proper Dyno tune.

Just an different mythology to consider.

It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

I needed one small tweak from Fuel Moto for the PC-V map they provided with the Wood 555 cams. While I haven't dyno'd the bike yet, the map has to be damn close, it runs great, throttle response is crispy and it pulls cleanly to redline.

I'm sure the PowerVision is even better, but I haven't found the need to upgrade just yet.

From what I see the Powervision needs to remain mounted to the bike? I wasn't really wanting a screen display.

Power vision does not have to stay on bike once you are done loading map or just done playing with it you can remove it. Takes less than a minute.
