A decent hook-n-pick set helps here or better yet checkout the Fuel-Tool link a few posts back by Veekness. Kinda spendy but their tool can be had for under $80 on Amazon or Feebay.

I have a decent pick set. Was hoping to be able to get this done without buying the Fuel-Tool deal. Just have to keep at it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, ain't the o-ring for the valve the same one as for the drain plugs? Thought I read that somewhere...

Guess I just have a problem spending $80 on the tool when a new check valve assembly is only $35.

I hear that. We'll spend thousands on bling that we can't even see when riding but hesitate pulling the trigger on a sub $100 tool that's reusable and sure would make life easier. I'm the same way.

Veekness, off hand I'm going to say no it's not the same. Can't remember the exact reason but thinking it's the thickness or ID that's different. The drain plug o-ring will leak if put in the check valve.
