before i spend 2,000 on a fairing thinking (dreaming) maybe i should see what the dealer is gonna give me for 08 fairing bike. any thoughts ,i am afraid to here the price they will give me . any idea of what 07 on trade ins r worth. again love my bike just need tunes. tommy
I think you can expect to take about a 15% bath for trade in on a current year bike. For a bike that was 18K list your looking at about $2700 loss. Only plus is that in Mass anyway, you only pay sales tax on the difference between trade in and new bike. that could save maybe $900-$1200 depending on what you buy. So the actual difference might not be so bad. Big plus for you is you have the new motor so dealer knows he can flip that bike easy....you should see what Seacoast HD in Seabrook NH is trying to get for 06 and below trade-ins! Was up there this past Sun and was laughing out loud. An example is I saw 04 and 05 Roadkings with tags on em for like $17,500..I'm thinkin, "who the hell pays that for 88's but they must sell em some how......then again no sales tax in NH so maybe that has something to do with the price to lure buyers in...
As in every year - the '08s will increase in $$$$ -
Trade-In value you can go to KBB to get an idea what the dealer will offer you on the trade as MOST dealers us it as a guideline FOR TRADE-IN's ONLY (Other wise KBB & NADA is worthless for values on m\c's)
"you should see what Seacoast HD in Seabrook NH is trying to get for 06 and below trade-ins! Was up there this past Sun and was laughing out loud. "
That is so true, I have a friend who works there, and their prices are rediculous. They wouldn't even give me a price on the phone.
I had to go there to find out they were crazy, even though I already knew that LOL
Seacoast HD is the LAST place I would by a harley, unless all the other dealers went out of business already...haha
After selling my wike's '01 Sportster on Ebay 2 weeks ago, I highly recommend doing a little research on ways to sell a vehicle on Ebay and going that route. We got alot more than I had expected and it was a smooth and easy transaction. I was real leery initially but I would now do it again in a heartbeat.
Raffle..... I bought a ticket for a bike a guy was trying to sell. He wanted $8700.00 and was getting no takers. to make a long story short he sold 87 Hot Wheels cars for $100.00 each. He only sold to people he knew or their friends. It was not a public offering. After all were sold (about 3 weeks) everyone was contacted. Those who wanted to be there showed up and everyones name was put in. Someone from the crowd who was chosen randomly picked the winner. I am sure there are a few more leagal details but bottom line is; Who wants to buy a $100 dollar ticket for a $17,000.00 bike when there is 3000 tickets sold? OK,there may be some. But if you only sell 1700 you would not be taking advantage of anyone and you would greatly increase the odds. Just a thought. By the way.... I did not get the bike but my odds were better than any lottery I have ever played and I know I have spent more than $100.00 on that. Good luck
