The style came after the performance boost. Having the bars in, elbows bent, gives you a lot more control in slow speed lock-to-lock maneuvering. They are solid mount to the tree so there's no slop. The look is just a bonus.

I have Kraus riser and Fly Moto bars, which are solid at the tree, but have internal poly bushings just below the bar clamp. Still solid, no movement, but a little less vibration. Either way, the looks are secondary to the feel and control. I had them on my SG and now have them on my RG.

Question for you gurus... I am wanting to upgrade my front shocks. Stock height, no need to raise the bike, I'm happy where it sits. I had GP Cartridge kit on my SG and I loved them! I'd definitely go that route again. But this time around, I wanted to change things up a touch, and go with gold tubes and the Arlen Ness fork guard to show off the gold but protect from rocks on the sliding surface.

Does the gold color wear and look like crap over time? I'm planning on adding gold Lyndall rotors at some point in the near future as well. Those, the gold is the color of the rotor, and a pencil eraser can clean them for shows or the like.

I dont have any first hand experience so take it as you will, but most of the gold forks I've seen have held up pretty well. You usually get some wear marks at the slider where they meet and move the most, but its not too bad. They definitely dont stay perfect if thats what youre asking.
As for the gold rotors, every set Ive seen, even though they claim they dont wear, have all worn off at the pad surface. The inner will stay gold but where the pads contact - I've never seen that stay.

I called Arlen Ness and he told me basically what you said. It will get dirty with oil, but will otherwise wear very well, holding up over time.

The rotors. They color is not the gold coming off, but the pads leaving themselves on the friction surface. That's why they get shiny. That material can be cleaned off if one were so inclined. I don't care so much about perfect, it's gonna wear. But I saw a set of black that looked like crap very early on, and didn't want to go that route.

I was just hoping to add a little pop and bling. I appreciate the input. I'll sleep on it a tad more and make a choice in the near future.

"Pop" and "Bling" sound like good nicknames for the senile octagenarian gomers running for president.

The Gold will fade some over time if your bike is outside in the sun a lot.

4 over now and it feels outstanding. Zero chopper flop

Ness 2" drop trees with +2 legends internals and tubes. 14" rwdgs2 shocks. Mad monkey solid rear isolators. Steering dampner, guage relocation with bluetooth amp for sound, mymachinist made me a heavy hitter extra wide power vision mount since bars are wider spacing.

Riser plate is getting chromed.

Stainless lines up front with avon grips and joker machine levers. Lectronic headlights and lectronic bag filler run, brake, turn rear lights. Bike handles on rails now. 2 over cow bells, chrome front end, og garage hidden fairing support.

New speakers up front with much better amp to allow removal of headunit. Removed the tri bar mullet and did a rear signal bar delete, New plate holder etc..

2.5" kickstand lift block as last road glide I built, I kept the gangster lean but it sure is a chore lifting a tall bike off the kickstand from a chopper lean when it's 800+ pounds and tall as hell.

Flipped the bar adapter so it pushes the bars forward a smidge. New battery and metzler tires with dyna beads. Klockwerks clear screen with color matched top vent. Alloy art chrome and white front signals.

Doing a missing link next with rack and pull engine/ motor alignment. Then its save up for chrome 19/18 rim combo and ness chrome mid controls with chrome/gold lyndall crown cut rotors and chrome calipers. Reaper cam and retune... call it a day

Needs chrome rims but happy with the direction it's going. I like the blue and chrome.
