if you ever do figure out a cheap way to get mid controls let us know; I'm in the same boat and don't wanna pay that ridiculous amount to big bear performance for their set. What kind of bags are those; how'd you get them to mount up like that?
Will do on the mids,
Bags are leather pros. They use stock mounting flh hardware. Fit on stock saddlebags rails
I like the looks of the shorty a little better, but I think Id rather the mid length for putting down some miles. Less rocks and sand flying, and definitely better in the rain.

I have a Slim and Fatboy fender. I like the look of the minimalist Slim but for practicality the Fatboy is better. The Fatboy is nice looking as well.
This might be a dumb question, but do both those fenders fit the touring bikes? If so what years fenders will fit the newer touring bikes?
My 97 RK has the fender mounts on the fork that are threaded. Newer forks will have the cap screw through holes. You just need the adapters for the right fork you have. I believe Harley used to make both versions of the adapter.
I'm running a 16 inch wheel. My Fatboy fender is 59139-00. I cross referenced parts from a 2010 Fatboy Lo I have. Fatboy fenders are plentiful and range a lot of years.
I bought the Slim fender by accident and it sits in a box. I think it looks cleaner but for what I do I like the extra coverage of the Fatboy.
I'm working on trimming down my Evo RK and keeping it as practical as possible.
I’m in the minority, but I like the mid-length better. I think the shorty just looks too minimalist on a bagger. I also end up riding in the rain every time I take a road trip, so that factors in as well.
