Default 2nd Aux switch for 17 FLHR

17 FLHR has a hole-insert on the right side of the bar-cover where a 2nd swith (opposite the passing lamp swith) could be installed. I've found nothing in the parts catalog for a switch and chassis wiring.

It's there when I get home I 'll see if I have the part number. It runs to the right side cover under the seat whereas teh 16's and down went to the left side.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. It's just a spare part! You can find the correct part number on any of several on-line parts websites - I use this one. Looks like its #71522-08.

Default 2nd Aux switch for 17 FLHR

Thanks for the online parts-lookup. Now to dig through the electrical wiring diagrams to see how best to get power to the right-side switch.
I am rather surprised the motor company has no prepackaged solution for this.
I am evidently alone in desiring a manually controlled accessory (in this case, a WaterProof USB jack that I don't want powered all the time but don't want it only functional when the ignition is on, either).

There is a Electrical Connection Update Kit for '17 and 18' touring bikes part # 69201599A that will facilitate you getting power to the right side switch.

https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...ion-update-kit

Prior to 2017 it was a different part number so something has changed. You would still need to run wires under the tank to the switch and then to the jack location.

This is similar to the dual USB I have inside my Windshield bag to keep my cell phone charged while traveling. I listen to a lot of Spotify while Im riding via bluetooth

Amazon Amazon

I cut off the SAE plugs and have it wired with waterproof Deutsch connectors so I can unplug it when I remove my windshield

Default I've dont the research

if you already have the AUX lights, the current switch on the left side of the IGN has 2 blanks, the middle blank is an operable switch, and the third blank is dedicated to the cool flow fan operation.

there are 3 blanks on the right side of the IGN. that part is:
Auxiliary Power Switch Kit - Fairing Mount Part Number 71400129

the wiring for the part i listed is already on the bike and terminates under the left side cover (black plug). that same plug has the power for the middle switch that you already have next to the AUX light switch. it also has the 2 switched power leads from the part number i listed.

the only thing i am not sure of is if the harness on the new part has the power lead for the existing switch that is next to the AUX switch (middle) on the left side of the IGN.

Hope this helps.!!

can you put up some pics how you finished at the front? I've been investigating this to see how to do the same thing, looking at cigarette lighters, etc.

under the seat, there are two connectors, one has a red and black wire, the other is a green/black and purple/green wire. I'm guessing one of those is for the aux power.

Good info but don't think applies to a Road King (FLHR)?
