you are all correct.it is a bitter pill to swallow but when it is all said and done Ifeel like the dealer came through for me 1K is 1K but peace of mind is worth the dough, it is no fun to ride a bike that just pisses you off every time you get on it . I told the dealer, when they asked if I was gonna leave it for service again, you guys have put 200 of the 1400 miles on my bike, and you had it 42 days out of the 4 months I have owned it....I am not leaving it again. It is like an ex-wife or girlfriend..........no matter how much you love em at the start they can, and not always mind you, finally get you to the point that no matter what they say or do , you just can't take em back. Same deal here, and the new bike is identical color options etc. There was another interesting gremlin.....the low fuel indicator would not come on till you ran out of gas when it is supposed to come on when the tank has about 1 gal left. The light would come on only if you "cycled": the ign switch when below 1 gal.They replaced the sender , troubleshot over and over, then actually told me the owners manual has a misprint and it isn't really a low fuel light it is a light that comes on when you have a problem with the fuel system like the oil light and I should just look at the fuel gauge and not worry about the light. When I called the MOCO they said.....HUH?I have been riding Harley's more than 30 years and I am 59 years old. None of us like change.todays Harley's ain't the bikes of yesteryear, but no brand is and I had Triumphs, BSA's, Vespas and even a simplex belt driven motorbike when I was a kid. I wish in some ways you could still get a carbureated bike like my 88 fxrs but you can't and in a lot of ways, despite the problems todays Harley is better. I still love my old bike and will learn to love this one after all, they are parked side by side in the garage. There are issues with 5th gear and other noises just look at the tranny threads on this forum. But what amazes me is howforum members sometimesblast each other for their opinions and thoughts.......hey it is all in the eyes of the beholder and things affect us all differently so lightenup! Sure I bitch and complain just like the best of em', BUT I will still ride a Harley over any other bike cause it is my choice of motorcycle.When I was working I was the president of a 6,000 member local union and I appreciate the fact my bike is UNIONMADE. I get mad at my wife too sometimes but have not kicked her to the curb, cause in the long run she is still the best choice............so is my Harley. Peterson harley stepped up, much to my surprise.....I am content.
I picked up my new 07 RKC today and rode it home happy as a lark. The vibration issues I had with the other bike are gone!!And with all I have learned in the process I am a much wiser man. Dealer was true to his word much to my surprise.My old bike had 1482 miles on it and I got it 0n 1/27/07.......I paid $1000 out the door tax tag title and extended warranty. I rode it home and drained the tranny and put Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil in it, when I get the Redline shockproof heavy I ordered online I will change out to that. I also drained the crankcase and put in harley 60w dino oil. Will do the same at 1000 miles and will use the Redline multiweight synthetic 60 at around 3000 miles.All this was at 14 miles. I took it out and put 65 miles on it and I gotta say all the noises from the old bike are diminished substantially, especially in the tranny. So that my friends is my .02 worth, and so far I am grinnin' ear to ear
I shop Petersons, they are pretty straight up with me. Glad you worked everything out, the other dealer down here in So Fla seems like a used car dealership, more options and stock but the pressure sales tactics turn me off. Sorry for your troubles, you worked it out, enjoy the frikken hot weather for the next few months, stay safe.
