This time of year is a crazy rush at dealers and Indy shops - everyone needing tires, brakes, etc. so the poor Indy is swamped. Best part of doing it yourself though is the self-satisfaction you’ve accomplished it with your own hands. And it’s done correctly.

Last week, local Indy mounted my front tire opposite of the rotation arrow. He apologized a hundred times and made it right but...you gotta check.

Congrats J.T. on tackling this.

On the primary, it isnt a fixed amount, you fill it to the lip of the opening when upright. Harley's dry and wet figures are approximations

My 2011 103" gets 3 1/2 qts in the engine, 1 qt in the trans, and the primary gets filled to "The Appropriate Level" as seen in the diagram below, bike level of course (Approx a qt). All at 5K, never an issue.
Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 Syn all three holes.
Oh, and the 5 qt jugs give you a little more room, and feel free to open up the hole on the side a little more. Great for the lawn mower, too.

All three holes have a level to fill them up to. IMHO the quantities in the manual and handbook are best regarded as a guide, rather than a set amount.

Yes, thus "The Appropriate Level".

I prefill my filter, dump 3 in and fire it up for 15-20sec, shut it down and let it drain back while I change the other fluids. Never have had to add any additional oil that way. It's always a dot or two from the full line. On the primary I go by sight. When it's full it's full. The trans gets a qt, and changed every other engine/primary oil change. If you change it more often than that, you're throwing away good oil and dollars.

Ya know.....I was pushing a lot of oil out of (open) air filter when it was hot out. Someone suggested 3qts of engine oil in case. So that's what I did. Oil is right is the middle.....idk?

Probably shouldn't twist the throttle so much.....oh well.
