Hello guys, I have my MINT set of chrome Rineharts on my 2013 RG and considering selling them or trading for a set of CFR's (smooth chrome w/fluted inner caps). My only concern is that I believe I read something about them having problems with the chrome flaking or peeling? I will certainly appreciate all the comments and suggestions! If you have Cary Faas Racing (CFR's) in excellent shape and are planning on selling, please contact me via PM or here!
Thanks in advance!
Vickon
Curious why you're wanting to switch? I wanted CFR's but went with Rineharts because of the bad reviews on the CFR's and not just the peeling but the torque loss. Ill admit they sound killer and I almost went with CFR despite that con.
I had CFRs on my Ultra Classic in 2009 and loved them. However, the chrome on the tips flaked really bad and I managed to have Cary Faas Racing send me a replacement set for free. The second set started to pit when I sold the bike in 2013. I don't know if the chrome on the recent ones have been improved.
Now, I ride a TriGlide and looked at CFRs because of their unique sound, until I came across the Bassani DNTs and to me, they sound pretty much the same, maybe even a tad better. Check them out on YouTube if you don't know them.
For what it's worth.
Another vote for the Rineharts. I had CFRs on the 13 Limited I just traded. My 06 TC88 Heritage classic with 510G cams would run circles around that 103 with the CFRs. I also think the Rineharts sound better.
I ran cfr's for about 6 months. Loved the sound but hated the torque loss. I traded up for a thunder header 2-1 and a good dyno tune with a power vision tuner and I love it now. 90hp, 94ft/lbs. Stay away from cfr's!
I had CFR's the sound is second to none but the dip in torque was awful. Switched to D&D fat cat and have no regrets at all. Have a few buddy's who run rhineharts and love them.
I have a friend with a 15 RGS with the CFR's. He did the air cleaner and Power Vision tune and they sound great but I don't know how he feels about the power issue. I just put Rinehart slimline duals on my 16 RGU and having just gone around the neighborhood the bike feels awesome and I LOVE the sound. His might be a bit louder, but since that's not what I was looking for I have to say I'm way happier with my Rineharts.
