Buy a can of Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish and try to restore it with that cleaner. If it doesn't work, nothing is lost because you can use it on your new windscreen, face shield, etc. The rain beads up and sheds as well as Rain-X treatment on glass. It's also good for cleaning chrome and other detailing. Once you tried it, you'd give your can of Pledge to your SO!
I have been told that using regular automotive wax will clean up a windshield, and provide some beading of rain drops when they hit. Anybody have any experience with using wax on a HD windshield?
After using "ProtectAll" for about 20+ years,I've become a believer in Rejex. I've been using it for about 5 months now and no longer use any waxes. It's not a cleaner so your paint or windshield have to be clean and looking good before you put this stuff on. Then it really looks good and stays that way. Try it, even on your mufflers. http://www.corrosionx.com/
RainX will destroy most m/c windshields. Sorry - but the "RUB" comment was WAY over the top IMO. Why denigrate someone coming here for help? Someone in need can become a friend...or enemy - depends on how you treat 'em. Figger ah've already got 'nuff enemies!
If yer lookin' fer info on ways ta clean/polish a shield, try the Tulsa windshield website - LOTS of info there on how ta properly maintain 'em!
T-Redneck, I agree. We should never talk down to a brother seeking help.
Hey I use corrosionx on by boat. Their products are the best I've ever used. I didn't even know they had anything like Rejex. Have you tried it on your shield? I'm going to buy some to use on my bike just on their reputation.
There are different types of "Plastic" - RainX may work on Plexi-glass but not on Lexan because they are different materials. Lexan is polycarbonate and Plexi-Glass is acrylic.
