Stick a ruler in there are measure the slack. Take out your plugs and turn the rear wheel in 5th, and check again.

Checking that chain tension in one spot like that tells you nothing.As tarkus says,you have to rotate it and check it again. I'd take the plugs out,turn it till you find the tightest spot,then adjust slack.

Update...………..so its been a great hot weekend up here in Ontario and I got on today and when on a 100 mile ride. At the end of the ride the noise was substantially less which makes no sense at all. Usally valvetrain noise and or primary noises increases when the bike is hot but this is opposite. I did however isolate some, most or all of it. Using a stethoscope I probed everywhere. Finally the rear rocker box has noise in it. Lots of it too. The Rockouts I installed have taken care of that annoying tick but it now has allowed me to hear other sounds and this is where it is . Rear Rocker box. So what could it be. The Rockouts were installed by a legitimate, certified HD mechanic. I cant believe his missed something but its possible. Any ideas?
