2017 r.g.s. has the dreaded trans. to primary seal failure.Bike is under warranty and mother ship h.d. wants me to take time from my family and ride 1,000 miles to further prove I didn't put the extra 14.5 fl.oz. in the primary hole. ?? Just received an e.s.p. warranty offer from a local h.d. dealer. H.D. are you kidding me ? This r.g.s. is the 8th h.d. I have owned and # 20 for my family in 25 years. I have laid down 70 k at my chosen dealership and another 30k at another dealership in the last 15 years. In the Buffalo NY area.Just fix my damn harley. Anyone else having this seal issue ? B.T.W. where does it say in our warranty package the owner of said bike is required to ride a bike for x amount of miles to prove there is a problem with anything ? Harley, you suck !!!
Its impossible for oil to move between the transmission and the primary. Do you mean engine and primary? If that is happening the engine would be losing oil also. Is there a different dealer you can take it to? You dont have to go back to the dealer that sold you the bike. I would think they would be more worried about damage from low oil level if you keep riding it.
I'm a bit lost on this. If there is too much oil in the primary, then drain it and replace with the proper amount. That's something the OP can do or to have it documented have the dealer do the service. Another simple test is to put an ounce or two of UV oil dye in the cavity that is donating the oil to a different cavity. But then I haven't owned all the Harleys the OP has. If I want to keep a warranty in place to take care of "issues" then so be it. But to own that many HDs and claim "Harley, you suck". To me sounds like a "one and done drive by"

You are kidding, right? There are literally hundreds of posts on this forum regarding cases of transmission fluid migrating to the primary on these bikes. There is a H-D service bulletin published about it.
They know it happens. They can come up with all the 1% statistics they want. I agree with the original poster.
Maxwell and Laidlaw and others,,, yeah let's not forget who they work for. No big deal right until it's your bike that has a problem. The idea of a little bit of fluid transfer one way or the other isn't really going to hurt anything okay fine was it designed to do that? If the answer is no then Harley should be fixing these bikes to function as designed.

I'm still trying to figure out if your bragging or complaining for your first post...
they are asking you to help them trouble shoot the issue.
Not uncommon in the automotive world.
But, thats my thoughts on your first world troubles.

I don't call it whining. I've done the 1k mile thing twice and I've had it with harley too. The last time they said to keep riding. it can't get low enough to hurt the trans. Took a 1800 mile trip and when I got back it took 19oz to fill it. 2 years and they haven't came up with a fix. Pretty darn poor if you ask me
