How are the locks on these Ebay Tour Packs? I know the hinges are not good but just curious about the actual locks. Does the actual Harley stuff fit right on these?
Dont know the name. ebay sells Rushmore style now. Rattle canned red reflectors black. Added CD led strips and wired to r/t/b module. 3 years of use and its still working great "for us". 1 and 2up.
When lid is open, it does feel a bit flimsy. When closed, the tp feels secure. Its not hd, nor was the $125 price.
It's been a L O N G time since I bought mine, been on every touring Harley in my sig. It is a fiberglass knockoff I bought on eBay, the seller/builder offered with HD hardware installed as an option which I took. It started out on my 04 Road King, I finished it with a HD rack, a Mustang backrest which gives 2" longer armrests than HD, and it has had two different mounts on it. Came in black, had it painted twice to match bikes it was being moved to. My issue has always been the inside, twice I bought liner/carpet kits, they work, but not perfect. If I were to do it over, I would buy a used Harley one, and have it painted (cost me $450 to match the candy apple metal flake on my current scoot). Good luck.
I just looked at the advanblack and pretty impressed. I can even get it color matched and not have to worry about the painting. Another thing I have discovered through my research is the ones on ebay already have the holes for speakers. I don't have a stereo on the RK so I would have had no use for the holes. I contacted the seller to see if you could get one without the holes and was advised I couldn't.
I bought this tour pak from Calvary Fiberglass last summer. Have had no issues with it. Super high quality! Its definitely thicker than a HD tour pak. I replace the HD one that got messed up in the wreck with it. Re-used as much of the hardware that I could. However, I had to replace all of the fasteners because they were too short for the new tour pak. Here is a link. This comes with no holes in it at all. So you only need to drill the holes that you need.

Just be aware that this is not heavy duty equipment and it works. Other threads of these knock offs with some changing out hardware.
Locks are cheap but I have had no issues with hinges. I used self locking hardware and drilled/mounted mine to a flat removable plate that had aftermarket harley rotating locks. Mounted after market mount on bike that uses the harley rotating locks on box side. All matched up nicely and now I only put the box on when I get ready to travel. The locks being cheap don't bother me as I don't have anything stored there worth taking.
I've got 10,000 miles on my eBay tour pack. It's been perfect. I not only get compliments on it, I saw many, many others on Run For The Wall this year. I should be able to get some pics up tomorrow or Tuesday.
Btw, all the hardware, the hinges, locks, baseplate, etc., were perfect.
