TC 88 dies while riding

Default TC 88 dies while riding
06 FLHTCI 98,000 miles. Riding the Rocky Mountains. I don’t think it’s to do with the altitude but I’ll mention it. Happened 3 times. Rolling along above 50, lost engine power, left the clutch out, I cycled the thumb switch and got it back. Third time it happened I noticed the tachometer was zero. Didn’t have the radio on. So I’m not sure what else goes out. Been a good 1200 mile week, not stumbling when starting.

If and when it happens again, try wiggling the ignition switch. A common problem. About a sixty buck part.

Did it again today, radio stayed on. Could be the ignition switch, but toggling the thumb switch seems to cure it. Hasn’t left me stranded yet.

Try cleaning or replacing the variable speed sensor.

Might also want to make sure your battery cables are good & tight.

Not sure where exactly it is on a Softail but on my 03 Road King it was crammed in real tight behind the starter. Real easy to replace but a bitch to reach. Check out the video below, its for an 09 Softail but it should be the same for your 06.
