Starter kickback
Just bought this 2007 flht and it came with the starter kickback. wow it sounds bad.but also has 90 day warranty and I bought the extended warranty 5 year. has anyone had this covered on there warranty. Thanks
The most common reasons for kickback are high compression, weak starter, starter clutch problem, compensator problem, weak battery, carbon build up, loose battery connections, a little of each. Solutions are several including compression releases, higher powered battery, new battery, new starter clutch, new compensator, tighten connections, starter button trickery... Doubtful if any of the above are warranty issues. There are lots and lots of threads about this problem. Do a search of the threads and read them. But it takes a lot of analysis ($$$) to track it down unless you can find someone knowledgeable local who can check it out in person. In other words you'll need a lot more information to track it down. It CAN be solved.

dont wait so long to hit the starter button after ignition is on and hold that puppy till it's started. you're letting off the button too early.

try this instead.........do the opposite.........turn the ignition and wait about 1-2 seconds, then hit the button.
A few things have to be seen my the ecm for it to get into start mode., IAC, CPK, temp, MAP sensor, TPS.............holding the button while turning the ignition doesn't give the ecm time to see those things.
